About Sierra Iturrino
Sierra Iturrino is a New York–based visual artist who grew up in Rockland County, New York. She is of Puerto Rican and Irish descent. Sierra attended Pratt Institute, where she earned her BFA in Drawing, and participated in the Summer 2022 Pratt in Venice program.
Her work investigates perceptions of femininity, connections with the Earth, memory, heritage, sacred feeling, and the significance of spaces and objects. Through intricate mark-making, Sierra honors the complexities and patterns found in the natural world. Her process is guided by an attunement to the Earth’s rhythms, allowing those patterns to influence the imagery she creates.
Her recent series, Ribbons of Ritual, explores the perception of the female body and the unseen power it holds. Throughout the work, the violence enacted against both women and the Earth emerges as a recurring presence. The body becomes a vessel connecting visible and invisible forces—love, pain, and transformation.
At the center of this relationship between body and Earth is the ritual of connection. Through this series, Sierra seeks to echo and illuminate that quiet but powerful force.
